Three Months
It's hard to believe how much personality Truman already has at three months. It's also hard to believe all of the things he can do already. He's become very good at rolling over from his back to his tummy — so good he's often rolling all over the place while I change his diaper. He's also become interested in sitting, though he's nowhere near being able to do it by himself. I place my fingers in his hands, ask him if he is ready and then he pulls himself up while I pull him up.
He definitely recognizes both Joe and I and will often smile at just the sight of us. He keeps close tabs on me, but enjoys spending time with others a lot more now. He enjoys talking in his own oohs and ahhs and has long conversations with me. Though they are composed of simply sounds, it's easy to see how these sounds will eventually become words.
He usually takes a nap right before Joe comes home, then wakes up bright eyed to spend time with him. He's now discovered himself in the mirror and seems fascinated by the sight of his reflection.
Here he is at 3 months:

Trumen
It's fun to here what people think of Truman's name, especially when they make an inference about whom he's named after. He wasn't named after this guy — a Harry Truman, described as crotchety, who refused to leave his home during the last Mount Saint Helen's eruption and was buried in ash with his 16 cats. (Yes, 16 cats!)
The person who asked Joe if we named him after this Truman added that we might have a stubborn child on our hands if he takes after that guy.

100 Days Old: Baptism
Truman was Baptized at St. Columban's in Preston, MN July 20; he was 100 days old. We were blessed to have Fr. Francis Galles, whom we met while Joe was campaigning for Fillmore county attorney, baptize him. It was a beautiful ceremony in which the first song was the same as the first within our wedding two years ago.
I felt so blessed walking in with my husband and son while our family watched. Many people came to congratulate us afterward. It was a proud day.
We had lunch at the Branding Iron afterward. Thank you Father Galles for the beautiful ceremony.
The photos that follow were all taken by the lovely aunt Jody:
A little Joe for some comic relief:
I disappear from the photographs because took over camera work at the reception:
Joe stepped in to snap this one:

Baby Power Tower
That's what I've been calling the new game I play with Truman. Here he is at music in the park down the street from our new house giggling on the way down the baby power tower. He likes going up fast and down slow.
The music in the park runs on Tuesdays in the summer at the old railroad depot. You can see the stage in the background of this photo.

Dad, Your Thumb is Mine
Truman's taken an impassioned interest in Joe's thumb. Chewing and drool; drooling and chewing. Is this how teething starts?
