Attack of the Giant Baby

When I read that baby's Truman's age may enjoy crawling through obstacle courses,

I didn't realize they meant I would become the obstacle course.

First Food = Leaves?

The Princeton school district has two small playground designed for preschoolers and these pictures are from our visit to one yesterday. We took a nice walk over and showed Truman all the equipment then had some fun with the leaves. It's kind of nice that the playground has turf instead of grass so that I'm not worrying about bugs and pesticides. That way I only have to worry about him eating leaves or rubber bits.

Picking up that we weren't going to let him eat the leaves, Truman decides to cunningly slip his pacifier out of his mouth while holding the leaf up to his mouth so he has time to shove it in before we can stop him. That's what he's doing in this picture:

What can I say, he's a smart cookie.

Bird? Plane? No, it's Truman

Truman's been flapping his arms as though he's going to take off recently. He sometimes gets such a kick out of it he giggles afterward.

Giggles McLoyd

Truman's giggle is too cute not to share. I know every parent probably thinks that about their child (probably because they are right.

Two Babies for the Price of One

Sarah and Khai came over yesterday and the babies had a fun time discovering each other. Khai looks young and defenseless in some of these photos, but a few minutes after they got here he did a perfect punch to knock Truman's pacifier out of his mouth. It didn't seem to bother Truman. Khai is ten weeks younger than Truman.

After they left he passed out on Joe:

Basilica in Minneapolis

Joe had a legal class in the city so Truman and I headed down with him. Among our adventures was a trip to the basilica and the sculpture garden.

Rock the Vote

Truman went with us to his first primary election today. We walked down to the old train depot and partook in what we've learned is a pretty important event. For those that don't know, Joe lost a primary election for county attorney by 6 votes. It feels good to expose him to something so important.

Plus, I always say you can't complain if you don't vote. So I guess I can complain now ;).

Highchairs? They Should Call Them Lowchairs

Truman's view from the highchairs at Roma's Macaroni Grill:

Truman sat in a highchair for the first time on his uncle Tim's Birthday a few weeks ago. I'd said no to highchairs so many times that when we met Tim, Pam, Pat, Elizabeth and Josh for lunch I would have said no again but before I got the chance the waitress brought one over. So I figured we might as well try it and it worked. The next day he started sitting unassisted.

As it turns out, though, highchairs give Truman a very low view of the table. I don't think they're made for 4-month-olds. Consequently, we should consider changing their name.

Truman Scoots!

The last few weeks have been leading up to a giant movement toward, well, movement that occured today. He's been traveling in circles and pushing himself backwards and able to scoot himself to a place so slowly we couldn't decipher how he got where he ended up. But today he scooted in fast-paced motions compared to what he's done before.

We have a mobile child. Joe put him down on a blanket while I edited this video and soon said to me, "the days of putting him down on a blanket are over" as he wrangled him out from under a chair.

Here he is, scooting at 5 days shy of 5 months:

Snap Shots from Nana's Visit

It looks like all we do is eat, but I assure you we did other things while my mom visited. We even saved a turtle.
